Making Instagram bearable

PSA: accessing Instagram with https://www.instagram.com/?variant=following might not change your life, but it might not not change it either.

That query param – ?variant=following – is something I found on a random reddit post while searching to see if anyone had a good way to get an RSS feed from Instagram. The answer is no, but this is probably the next best thing.

Just accounts you follow, in chronological order. So far I haven't even seen any ads.

I open it once or twice a day, have a glance at the handful of great new photos, like the one above, until I'm caught up to the last thing I saw, then close it. Zero time doomscrolling past algo driven crap.

Feels so much more peaceful. I suppose it's bad for their business, but given I'd stopped using it at all before seeing this, maybe it's not.
